Colas Locomotive named 'Merl Evans 1947 - 2016'

Colas Rail today named Class 37/0 locomotive No. 37 099, 'Merl Evans 1947 - 2016'. The naming ceremony at Derby Station today (2 December 2016) was attended by Merl's family, and his wife Maureen unveiled the nameplate. Bachmann's former Head of Research and Development sadly passed away on the 16th August 2016.

Merl is a great loss not only to Maureen, his family and his former colleagues, but to the whole model railway community.

Class 101 with seated passengers

Modellers can add an extra level of detail to their model railway scenes with a selection of models featuring fitted passengers. We are very pleased to reveal the production samples for the Branchline OO scale Class 101s with passengers. The hand painted figures are randomly placed in the carriages, with 12 figures in the DTCL (the full length interior) and 6 figures in the DMBS (the motorised brake car).

Bachmann Europe Plc acquires Exclusive First Editions

Bachmann Europe Plc is delighted to announce their acquisition of the Exclusive First Editions range of 1/76th scale die-cast vehicles including buses, coaches, lorries and London Underground tube trains.

The company began trading as part of the ERA Group in 1989 and was originally located in Great Yarmouth before moving to Milton Keynes. In 1996 the company moved to Hemel Hempstead and in 2001, Frank Joyce, the only remaining founder member of the EFE team bought the company with his wife Brenda, relocating to Enfield the following year.

Presenting our newest EFE Release

We are pleased to introduce the latest EFE exclusive item produced for Bachmann Europe PLC. E28825 is a Leyland Titan prototype in London Transport livery. Our model depicts B15-05 (BCK 706R) as it would have appeared in the Spring of 1978. Shown working on route 24 to Victoria Station and operating out of Chalk Farm. It carries the white top deck LT livery of the time and a blind box masked for NBC specification.

EFE Daimler DMS now available

We are pleased to introduce the latest EFE exclusive item produced for Bachmann Europe PLC. E25711 is a Daimler DMS in London Transport's Selkent Bus & Coach Council livery.

Our model depicts one of London's many Daimler DMS's in use in the 1980s. Registered GHV 63N, fleet numbered DM 1063 and shown running on route 70 to Victoria, this Selkent District vehicle displays the eye catching slogans 'Ease the rush, use the bus' and 'We carry more passengers per gallon' along with the striking Bus and Coach Council logo with its row of passengers or as they were commonly nicknamed 'performing seals'.

Birdcage Coaches Unveiled

Recent arrivals at Bachmann include the engineering prototypes for the Bachmann Branchline Birdcage coaches in OO scale. Designed by H.S. Wainwright, the South Eastern & Chatham Railway's Birdcage coaches were built between 1912 and 1915. Named due to the roof observatory fitted to each brake vehicle, the 60ft Birdcage coaches were highly regarded and as such found use with the SECR, SR and BR over a period of more than 50 years.

Make way for the Graham Farish Class 40

As shown at the 2016 International N Gauge Show, we are excited to present the first pictures of the N scale Class 40 engineering prototype from Graham Farish. The Class 40 was the first of British Railway's main line diesel locomotives to be introduced and although initially designed for express passenger duties, they were later relegated to mixed traffic work.

OO Thompson Corridor Coaches

New images are now available for the Bachmann Branchline Thompson coach livery samples. The LNER foresaw a post-war building program of over 4,000 coaches to replace life expired stock. With suitable materials not available to continue construction of Gresleys teak coaches, Edward Thompson designed a series of steel clad corridor coaches. The steel bodies were painted with a simulated teak finish, giving way to crimson and cream after nationalization.
